Khairpur Sugar Mills Limited was incorporated on August 23, 1989 as a public limited company under Companies Ordinance and the plant is located in Kot Diji area of Khairpur District, Sindh, PakistanKhairpur Sugar Mills Limited has been manufactured under license by Fives Call Babcock (FCB) of France. Trial production began on 17 January, 1994 and commercial operation started on 01 March, 1995.

The Management decided to upgrade the plant in 2008 to a proposed capacity of 7,000 metric tons daily. The up gradation was completed in 2011. Khairpur Sugar Mills Limited also facilitates the local area Cane Growers in form of seed and fertilizer subsidy. Khairpur Sugar Mills Limited is also a listed company with Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited (Formerly Karachi Stock Exchange Limited).

Presently, Khairpur Sugar Mills Limited’s contribution towards the Government treasury is approximately PKR 750 million per year on an average in the shape of Sales Tax/Federal Excise Duty, Income Tax and other levies. Over 800 employees work under the KSML Umbrella.
